Purpose of Position:

We are seeking a Sales Representative based in Philadelphia or Southern New Jersey to represent Beckman Coulter Life Science Centrifugation and Cell Counting/Particle business to actively promote the company’s products and services to a defined customer base in all of Philadelphia and Southern New Jersey.

The successful candidate is expected to implement a sales plan designed to achieve established sales and financial goals; call on prospective and current company customers; involve technical personnel to resolve customer’s issues and problems as needed; participate in the establishment of sales targets and design of the territory's sales plan; and control sales expenses. Strategic sales targets include all Academic, Pharmaceutical, Biotech, Industrial, etc. accounts.

Essential Functions:

  • Annually submit and implement a detailed sales plan identifying sales objectives, sales opportunities, major customers, and regional shows to be attended during the fiscal year.
  • Participate in sales activities including customer site visits, telephone contacts, trade seminars and shows, product demonstrations, customer seminars and channel management.
  • Coordinate distributor training activities to achieve corporate objectives. Maintain customer activity files. Submits monthly forecast and maintains timely and accurate funnel details.
  • Collects and reports information on all competitive activity within the assigned territory on company CRM SalesForce.

Environment:

  • The work environment for this position is field sales based with a home office. The field sales activities will take this individual into customers’ locations and moderate physical activity (e.g. lifting/carrying of materials) occurs.
  • Overnight travel is required, amount is predicated on home office location and territory activity.

The work environment may consist of an indoor environment with good ventilation, adequate lighting and low noise levels and/or subjected to moving mechanical parts, electrical currents, vibrations, fumes, odors, dusts, gases, chemicals, oils, extreme temperatures and work space restrictions while working in the field.

Employees may be required to wear proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) while working in the field which may include: eye and hearing protection, protective smock, steel toe shoes, gloves, hard hats, or face shields.

Key Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree (or higher) in life sciences or related field
  • 2+ years' demonstrated track record of success ideally in a Life Science and/or Academic sales or other Technical/Capital equipment sales area

Preferred Skills:

  • Highly motivated and success driven
  • Experience with CRM, SFDC
  • Excellent time and territory management habits
  • Solid understanding of tactical sales skills (prospecting, qualifying, closing, and growing existing customers) strongly preferred
